Olumo Rock is a granite outcrop located in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State, south-western Nigeria. Standing at about 137 metres above sea level, it served as a natural fortress for the Egba people in the early 19th century during the inter-tribal wars in Yorubaland. Caves and grottoes inside the rock provided shelter during the conflicts. Today the site is a major tourist attraction with a walkway, lift, museum and viewing platform that overlooks the city of Abeokuta.
