The Parliament of Ghana is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Ghana. It is established under Chapter Ten of the 1992 Constitution. Parliament currently has 275 Members of Parliament (MPs), each elected from a single-member constituency for a four-year term. It is presided over by the Speaker, who is elected by the MPs. Parliament passes national legislation, approves the national budget, ratifies treaties and exercises oversight of the executive branch. The leader of the largest party in Parliament is normally the Majority Leader and the leader of the largest opposition party is the Minority Leader.
