The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) is the independent constitutional body responsible for conducting all public elections and referenda in Ghana. It was established under Article 43 of the 1992 Constitution and operationalised by the Electoral Commission Act, 1993 (Act 451). The EC compiles and revises the voter register, demarcates constituencies and polling stations, registers political parties, conducts presidential and parliamentary elections every four years, and educates the public on the electoral process. Commissioners are appointed by the President in consultation with the Council of State and enjoy security of tenure.
