Paystack is a Nigerian fintech company that provides online payment processing for businesses. Founded in 2015 by Shola Akinlade and Ezra Olubi, it was acquired by Stripe in 2020 for over US$200 million — one of the largest startup acquisitions in African tech history. Paystack enables businesses to accept payments via card, bank transfer, mobile money and USSD through simple API integrations. It processes over half of all online transactions in Nigeria and has expanded to Ghana, South Africa and Kenya. Paystack was part of Y Combinator's 2016 cohort.
