Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is a public university located in Kumasi, the capital of Ghanas Ashanti Region. It was founded in 1952 as the Kumasi College of Technology and renamed in honour of Ghanas first president Kwame Nkrumah in 1961. KNUST is Ghanas leading institution in science, technology and engineering, and is organised into six colleges: Engineering, Science, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Architecture and Planning, Health Sciences and Humanities and Social Sciences. The Kwame Nkrumah University Council governs the institution.
